June 4, 2020 - EPA Congress 2020 and our RECOVER-E Workshop are going virtual!

In response to restrictions and safety measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 28th European Congress of Psychiatry in Madrid has been fully digitalized and will now be held virtually on July 4-7, 2020. According to EPA, this new format “will offer the mental health community the possibility for educational exchanges, scientific news and best practice updates while protecting the safety, health, and well-being of all congress participants.”
The theme of this year’s conference remains “The Shared Heritage of European Psychiatry” and will focus on sharing knowledge around treating complex disorders, practical know-how, techniques, and guidance around clinical challenges to improve health outcomes for patients and the people who care for them.

In this context, our RECOVER-E project workshop will now be represented digitally by Dr. Laura Shields-Zeeman (Netherlands, Project Leader for RECOVER-E), Dr. Julian Beezhold (United Kingdom), Dr. Jana Chihai (Moldova), Dr. Antoni Novotni (North Macedonia), and Guadalupe Morales (Spain). The workshop will give an overview of progress in implementing community-based mental health services in light of the call for policy and service development from the European Commission, WHO, and UN Sustainable Development Goals. The team will also discuss achievements and lessons learned to-date, updates on the training and embedding of peer workers into mobile teams, and the impact that introducing home visits in North Macedonia and Croatia has had on these countries’ mental health systems.

The (now fully digitalized) RECOVER-E workshop will take place on Tuesday July 7th at 8:00 – 9:30. For more details about the congress and the scientific programme, please visit EPA’s website here.
