Furthering the Implementation of Community Mental Health Care in Europe

Together with 15 partners from 11 countries, the Trimbos Institute succeeded to realize funds of more than EUR 3.3 Million for a 3,5 year H2020 project called RECOVER-E. The project starts on January 1st 2018 to implement Community Mental Health Care Centres in pilot regions in 5 European countries. The results of the pilots will be evaluated scientifically. The Trimbos International department leads the consortium, Dr Laura Shields-Zeeman has been the main writer of the application.
Community mental health teams
RECOVER-E stands for LaRge-scalE implementation of COmmunity based mental health care for people with seVere and Enduring mental ill health in EuRopE. Community mental health teams will be set up by hospitals in Croatia, Montenegro, Romania, North Macedonia, and Bulgaria. National research teams will guide the evaluation study of effects. An international network of experts will ensure adequate implementation, scientific quality and ethical compliance. Outputs will be prepared for dissemination to a large audience, in which several dissemination partners will be of support.
This new project serves to further utilize the expertise of Trimbos to work in large international consortia, to provide training regarding the importance and the practice of Community Mental Health Care and to improve mental health services in Europe through bringing new knowledge and insights. The project shows the relevance of both collecting as well as implementing data. The project website will soon be published.
